Kessinians

Also known as Kessiner

The Kessinians (Kessiner) were a West Slavic tribe of the Lutician federation on the lower Warnow river in modern Mecklenburg, Germany, around the later city of Rostock. In 1057 they and the Circipanians fought the Redarii and Tollensians for leadership of the federation. In the 12th century they came under the Obotrite princes, the forerunners of the dukes of Mecklenburg.
