Kham
Kham is a historical region of eastern Tibet, now divided mainly between the Tibet Autonomous Region and the Chinese provinces of Sichuan, Qinghai and Yunnan. A land of deep river gorges along the upper Yangtze, Mekong and Salween, it was long split among local kingdoms and chieftaincies such as Derge. Its people, the Khampa, were known as traders and warriors.
