Khana Ratsadon

1927–1933 · 20th century · Also known as People's Party (Siam)

The Khana Ratsadon, or People's Party, was a group of civilian and military officials founded by Thai students in Paris in 1927. Led by Pridi Banomyong and Plaek Phibunsongkhram, it carried out the bloodless revolution of 24 June 1932 that ended absolute monarchy under King Prajadhipok and introduced Siam's first constitution. Its members dominated Thai politics for the next fifteen years.
