Khvarenah

Also known as xwarrah

Khvarenah, known in Middle Persian as xwarrah, is an Iranian concept of divine glory or royal fortune believed to accompany legitimate rulers. In the Sasanian Empire it formed part of the ideology of kingship, signalling that the monarch ruled with divine favour. Loss of khvarenah was thought to mark a ruler's loss of the right to rule.
