Kłodzko

Also known as Glatz

Kłodzko, in German Glatz, is a town in Lower Silesia, south-western Poland, on the Nysa Kłodzka at the centre of a basin enclosed by the Sudetes. For centuries it belonged to the Bohemian crown, guarding the road from Silesia into Bohemia, until Prussia annexed it in 1742. Its hilltop fortress was rebuilt under Frederick the Great, and the town passed to Poland in 1945.
