Komtur

Komtur, from Latin commendator, was the title of the commander of a commandery (Komturei) in the Teutonic Order and some other military orders. In Prussia each Komtur governed a district from a castle with a convent of knight-brothers, collecting rents, administering justice and raising troops, and answered to the Grand Master and his great officers.
