Kor River

Also known as Kur River (Fars)

The Kor, or Kur, is a river in Fars Province in south-western Iran, about 280 km long, which flows past the plain of Marvdasht to the salt lake of Bakhtegan. Its waters, joined by the Pulvar, irrigated the heartland of Persis around Persepolis and Istakhr. In the 10th century the Buyid ruler Adud al-Dawla built the Band-e Amir dam on it.
