Kunlun Mountains

The Kunlun Mountains are one of the longest mountain systems in Asia, stretching about 3,000 km from the Pamirs into central China along the northern edge of the Tibetan Plateau. Rivers fed by their glaciers, such as the Yurungkash and Karakash, water the oases on the southern rim of the Taklamakan Desert, including Khotan, long famous for jade carried down from the range. In Chinese myth they were the home of the Queen Mother of the West.
