Kyōtoku War
The Kyōtoku War was a long conflict in the Kantō region of eastern Japan that began when the Kamakura kubo Ashikaga Shigeuji murdered the Kantō deputy Uesugi Noritada at the end of 1454. The Uesugi, backed by the shogunate, fought Shigeuji, who moved his base to Koga and became the first Koga kubo. Lasting until 1482, the war broke the old order in the Kantō and prepared the way for the Sengoku period there.
