Lahad Datu
Lahad Datu is a town on the east coast of Sabah in Malaysian Borneo, a centre of the palm-oil industry. In February 2013 more than 200 armed followers of Jamalul Kiram III, a claimant to the Sultanate of Sulu, landed nearby to press the sultanate's historic claim to Sabah, and Malaysian security forces expelled them in fighting that killed dozens.
