Linderhof Palace

1869–1878 · 19th century

Linderhof Palace is a small rococo-style palace near Ettal in the Bavarian Alps, built for King Ludwig II of Bavaria between 1869 and 1878. It was the only one of his palaces completed in his lifetime and the one in which he lived longest. Its park holds fantasy buildings such as the Venus Grotto, an artificial cave inspired by Wagner's Tannhäuser, and a Moorish kiosk.
