Lower Franconia is an administrative region of Bavaria in Germany, in the north-west of the state along the Main river, with Würzburg as its seat. Largely formed from the lands of the former prince-bishopric of Würzburg and the Aschaffenburg area, it came under Bavaria in 1814 and is known for its Franconian wine.
