Lower Lusatia
Lower Lusatia is a historical region in eastern Germany and western Poland, around Cottbus and the Spree Forest, home to the Lower Sorbian Slavic minority. Ruled as a margraviate under Wettin, Brandenburg and Bohemian lords, it passed with the Bohemian crown and then to Saxony in 1635 and Prussia in 1815. It is distinguished from Upper Lusatia around Bautzen to the south.
