Lucus Augusti
Lucus Augusti, modern Lugo in Galicia, north-western Spain, was a Roman town founded around 25 BCE. It became a leading centre of Roman Gallaecia and later its provincial capital. In the late 3rd century it was enclosed by walls more than two kilometres long, which survive complete and are a World Heritage Site. It later became a bishopric under the Suebi.
