Máedóc of Ferns

Also known as Saint Aidan of Ferns, Saint Mogue

Máedóc of Ferns, also known as Aidan or Mogue, was an Irish saint who founded the monastery of Ferns in County Wexford around 600. Under the patronage of the Uí Chennselaig kings, Ferns became the chief church of southern Leinster and later the seat of a diocese. He is said to have studied in Wales under Saint David, and he died in the early 7th century.
