Malay Annals

1612 · 17th century · Also known as Sejarah Melayu, Sulalatus Salatin

The Malay Annals are a Malay literary chronicle of the rulers of Malacca, tracing them from Sang Nila Utama's founding of Singapura to the Portuguese conquest of Malacca in 1511. The best-known version was edited in 1612 at the court of Johor. Mixing legend with history, they are a main source for the early Malay kingdoms and for Malay ideas of kingship.
