Onn Jaafar
Onn Jaafar was a Malay politician and chief minister of Johor who led the opposition to the Malayan Union and founded the United Malays National Organisation (UMNO) in 1946. He left UMNO in 1951 after failing to open it to non-Malays and founded the Independence of Malaya Party, which made little headway. His son Hussein Onn later became prime minister of Malaysia.
