Singapore Strait

The Singapore Strait is a channel about 100 kilometres long between the Strait of Malacca and the South China Sea, separating Singapore from the Riau Islands of Indonesia. One of the busiest shipping lanes in the world, it carries much of the trade between the Indian Ocean and East Asia. The Anglo-Dutch Treaty of 1824 divided the old Johor-Riau realm along it, a line that still forms the border.
