Mantaro Valley
The Mantaro Valley is a broad, fertile highland valley in the Junín region of central Peru, drained by the Mantaro River, with Huancayo as its main city. After the fall of the Wari Empire it was home to the Huanca and Xauxa peoples, who were conquered by the Incas in the 15th century. It remains one of the main farming regions of the Peruvian Andes.
