Marasimha II
Marasimha II was a king of the Western Ganga dynasty of southern Karnataka, ruling from about 963 to 975 as an ally and feudatory of the Rashtrakuta emperor Krishna III. He fought on the Rashtrakutas' behalf in northern India and crushed the Nolamba dynasty. A devout Jain, he died by ritual fasting at Bankapura; his minister Chavundaraya later had the great Gommateshwara statue carved at Shravanabelagola.
