Marienstatt Abbey

Marienstatt Abbey is a Cistercian monastery in the Westerwald near Hachenburg, Rhineland-Palatinate. Founded in the early 13th century under the patronage of the counts of Sayn, it has an early Gothic church, one of the first Gothic buildings east of the Rhine. Dissolved in 1803, it was resettled by Cistercians in 1888 and is still active.
