Mathildenhöhe
The Mathildenhöhe is a hill in Darmstadt, Germany, where Grand Duke Ernest Louis of Hesse established the Darmstadt Artists' Colony in 1899. Its artists' houses, exhibition building, Russian Orthodox chapel and Wedding Tower, built largely by Joseph Maria Olbrich, form an outstanding ensemble of Jugendstil architecture, listed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site in 2021.
