Mathrafal
Mathrafal is a site near Meifod in Montgomeryshire, mid-Wales, traditionally the chief court of the kings and princes of Powys from the 9th century. A ringwork and bailey castle survives there, probably built in the late 12th or early 13th century. The site was abandoned after it was destroyed in 1212, during the wars between King John and the princes of Wales.
