Mennonites

The Mennonites are Anabaptist Christians named after Menno Simons, a Frisian former priest who organised scattered Anabaptist groups in the 1530s and 1540s. Rejecting infant baptism, oaths and military service, they suffered persecution and settled wherever rulers tolerated them, including the Dutch Republic, small German territories, Prussia, the Russian Empire and later North America.
