Meñli I Giray was khan of Crimea, with interruptions, from 1468 to 1515. After the Ottomans took the Crimean coast in 1475 he accepted Ottoman overlordship, and in 1502 he destroyed the Great Horde, the last remnant of the Golden Horde. Allied with Muscovy, he raided Poland-Lithuania, and he built the Zincirli Medrese at Bakhchysarai.
