Zincirli Medrese

1500 · 16th century

The Zincirli Medrese is an Islamic college built in 1500 by Khan Meñli I Giray at Salaçıq, near Bakhchysarai in Crimea, beside his family mausoleum. Named after the chain (zincir) hung over its gateway, which obliged everyone entering to bow, it was a leading centre of learning in the Crimean Khanate and is one of its most important surviving buildings.
