Mentuhotep IV

r. c. 1990 BCE · 20th century BCE

Mentuhotep IV was the last king of the Eleventh Dynasty of Egypt, reigning for a few years around 1990 BCE and omitted from later king lists. He is known mainly from inscriptions in the Wadi Hammamat, where his vizier Amenemhat led a large quarrying expedition. That vizier is usually identified with Amenemhat I, founder of the Twelfth Dynasty.
