Mesa del Nayar
The Mesa del Nayar is a mountain plateau in the Sierra Madre Occidental, in the present-day Mexican state of Nayarit. It was the stronghold of the Cora people, who kept their independence from Spanish rule for almost two centuries after the conquest. Spanish forces captured it in 1722, ending the independence of the Nayar.
