Mhlathuze River
The Mhlathuze is a river in northern KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, flowing east to the Indian Ocean near Richards Bay. In the late 18th and early 19th centuries the lands along it and the Mfolozi rivers were home to the Mthethwa, Qwabe and early Zulu chiefdoms, whose rivalries led to the rise of Shaka. Today its waters supply the industries and port of Richards Bay.
