Mhlatuze River

The Mhlatuze is a river in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, flowing east to the Indian Ocean at Richards Bay. Around 1819 Shaka's Zulu army decisively defeated the Ndwandwe of Zwide on its banks, a victory that broke Ndwandwe power and made the Zulu the dominant state in the region. Its waters now supply the town and industries of Richards Bay.
