Ming Rui

d. 1768 · 18th century

Ming Rui was a Manchu general of the Qing dynasty, a relative by marriage of the Qianlong Emperor, who commanded the third Qing invasion of Burma in 1767–1768. After advancing towards Ava, his army was cut off and destroyed by Burmese forces near Maymyo in early 1768, and he took his own life rather than be captured. He had earlier served in the Qing campaigns in Xinjiang.
