Mount Cameroon

Mount Cameroon is an active volcano near the coast of south-western Cameroon and the highest mountain in West and Central Africa. Under German rule its fertile volcanic slopes were turned into plantations worked by forced and recruited labour. After the First World War the area fell within the British Cameroons, and the plantations became the Cameroons Development Corporation.
