Mpondomise

Also known as amaMpondomise

The Mpondomise are a Xhosa-speaking southern Nguni people of the Eastern Cape in South Africa, living around Tsolo and Qumbu. Their royal genealogy is shared with the Mpondo, from whom they separated many generations before written records, and they were respected by neighbouring peoples as rainmakers. Their kingdom lost its independence to the Cape Colony after the revolt of 1880.
