Mpu Kanwa
Mpu Kanwa was a court poet of King Airlangga of Kahuripan in East Java in the early 11th century. He wrote the Arjunawiwaha, composed around 1030, one of the earliest and most admired Old Javanese kakawin poems. Drawing on the Mahabharata, the poem is widely read as an allegory of Airlangga's own trials and victory.
