Nagarjunakonda
Nagarjunakonda is a historic Buddhist site in the Krishna valley of Andhra Pradesh, India, named after the Buddhist philosopher Nagarjuna. In the 3rd and 4th centuries CE the valley held Vijayapuri, capital of the Ikshvaku dynasty, whose royal women endowed many stupas, monasteries and shrines that drew monks from Sri Lanka and beyond. Most of the valley now lies under the Nagarjuna Sagar reservoir, and its rescued monuments stand on an island in the lake.
