Person
Namri Songtsen
Namri Songtsen was a chief of the Yarlung valley in central Tibet who, with the support of clan leaders who had deserted rival lords, brought much of central Tibet under his authority in the late 6th and early 7th centuries. His conquests laid the foundations of the Tibetan Empire, and his son Songtsen Gampo, who succeeded him after he was poisoned, built it into a great power.
