Narayanhiti Palace

Narayanhiti Palace in Kathmandu was the main residence of the kings of Nepal. The present building, designed by the American architect Benjamin Polk, was completed around 1970 on the site of an older palace. On 1 June 2001 King Birendra and much of the royal family were killed there by Crown Prince Dipendra. After the abolition of the monarchy in 2008 it became a museum.
