Nassau Castle

Also known as Burg Nassau

Nassau Castle is a hilltop castle above the town of Nassau on the Lahn in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany, built around 1125 by the counts of Laurenburg. The family took its name from the castle, becoming the House of Nassau, whose branches later produced the Dutch royal family and the grand dukes of Luxembourg. Ruined after the 17th century, it was partly restored in the 20th century.
