National Liberation Movement (Ghana)
The National Liberation Movement was a political party in the Gold Coast founded in Kumasi in 1954 to defend Asante interests against Kwame Nkrumah's Convention People's Party. Backed by the Asantehene and led in parliament by Kofi Abrefa Busia, it demanded a federal constitution but lost the 1956 election, and Ghana became a unitary state at independence in 1957.
