Nekor

Also known as Nakur

Nekor was a town in the Rif of northern Morocco, near modern Al Hoceima, founded in the early 9th century as the capital of the Emirate of Nekor. It stood in the fertile valley of the Nekor river, a short distance from the sea, and traded with al-Andalus. Vikings raided it in 859. It declined in the 11th century and was destroyed in the Almoravid conquest.
