Nellore is a city in Andhra Pradesh, India, on the Penna river near the Bay of Bengal coast. In the 12th and 13th centuries it was the seat of the Telugu Chodas, and the Pandya king Jatavarman Sundara Pandya I performed a victory coronation there. It later came under the Kakatiyas and Vijayanagara and is now a district headquarters.
