Neumark
The Neumark ('New March') was the part of the Margraviate of Brandenburg east of the Oder, acquired by the Ascanian margraves in the 13th century. Sold to the Teutonic Order in 1402, it was bought back by Elector Frederick II in 1455. After the Second World War it passed to Poland, and its chief town, Landsberg an der Warthe, is now Gorzów Wielkopolski.
