Norici
The Norici were a Celtic people of the eastern Alps, in what is now Carinthia and Styria in Austria. In the 2nd century BCE they led a union of tribes that formed the kingdom of Noricum, which traded its famous iron with Rome. After Noricum was absorbed into the Roman Empire around 16 BCE, the name survived as that of the Roman province.
