Odysseus

Also known as Ulysses

Odysseus, called Ulysses by the Romans, is the legendary king of Ithaca in Greek myth, a hero of the Trojan War famous for his cunning, credited with the stratagem of the wooden horse. Homer's Odyssey tells of his ten-year voyage home, including his escape from the Cyclops Polyphemus. Many Greek and Italian cities claimed him or his sons as founders.
