O'More

Also known as Uí Mórda, Ó Mórdha

The O'Mores, Irish Ó Mórdha, were the ruling family of the Loígis in the Irish midlands from the 11th century, taking their name from an ancestor called Mórda. They recovered much of their territory from the Anglo-Normans in the 14th century and resisted the plantation of Laois under Mary I and Elizabeth I, notably under Rory Óg O'More. Their lands were confiscated and many of the family were killed or transplanted.
