O'Neill dynasty
The O'Neill dynasty, Ua Néill in Irish, was a branch of the Cenél nEógain of the northern Uí Néill, named after Niall Glúndub, a high king killed in 919. After their Mac Lochlainn rivals declined in the 13th century, they ruled Tír Eógain (Tyrone) in Ulster as kings. They remained the leading Gaelic dynasty of the north until the Nine Years' War and the Flight of the Earls in 1607.
