Orontid dynasty

6th century–c. 200 BCE · 6th century BCE · Also known as Yervanduni dynasty, Eruandids

The Orontid dynasty ruled Armenia from the Achaemenid period until about 200 BCE. Its members governed the satrapy of Armenia for the Persian kings and were linked to the Persian royal house by marriage, then reigned as effectively independent kings after the fall of the Achaemenid Empire, from Armavir and later Yervandashat. Antiochus III ended their rule around 200 BCE, and Armenia passed to the Artaxiads.
