Person
Otto Roth
Otto Roth was a lawyer and Social Democrat in Temesvár (Timișoara) who led the local council that proclaimed the Banat Republic on 1 November 1918, as Austria-Hungary collapsed. The republic sought to keep the multi-ethnic Banat together, but it was ended within weeks by the arrival of Serbian troops, and the region was later divided between Romania and the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes.
