Ouaddaï Region
Ouaddaï is a province of eastern Chad on the border with Sudan, with its capital at Abéché. It takes its name from the Wadai Sultanate, whose heartland it covers, and is home to the Maba and other peoples. Since 2003 it has received large numbers of refugees from the conflicts in neighbouring Darfur.
