Pacts of May
The Pacts of May were agreements signed by Chile and Argentina on 28 May 1902 that ended a period of tension over their long Andean border. They committed both countries to arbitration of disputes and halted their naval arms race by limiting warship construction, one of the earliest arms limitation agreements. They were followed by the British arbitration award of 1902 on the boundary.
